Notes

Began swatching. Gauge spot-on with my wooden 4.5mm hook, but starting chain too tight, so will use bigger hook for that. Plan to use technique from Beau Blazer for adding bust darts by using big pattern reps. I also plan to work as seamlessly as possible, using the techniques from Lilac time cardigan

A few rows into the back (size M) and I’m noticing pooling, so going to alternate rows from two balls. Was hoping I wouldn’t need to but ah well, that’s life with handpainted yarn :)

Yoke finished. Wow, worsted weight works up fast!! Began my ‘big pattern repeats’ on row 9 of each front, with one centered, and increased one each row up to 6 (full width of front). Seems to be working pretty well so far! Adding a wee bit of length as well as width, which is helpful! Going to keep working 6 for a few more rows before I begin to take them out. Joined backs to fronts at row 15,working across entire width now.

Oh my goodness, just can’t get over how fast this is working up - I’m two rows away from doing the waistband, and almost finished with the first two skeins of yarn! Can I make a sweater in a week? We’ll see! The bust shaping technique is working beautifully as well. Only downside is this yarn is not as soft as I would like. Hoping a bath with conditioner will help it out after I am done.

Halfway through peplum. Of course, it’s now that I get the bright idea that I should have worked the waistband as fpsc, to create a knit-look band, like in my Aztec poncho. That would have been cool. But I don’t feel like frogging 6 rows of peplum plus 6 rows of waistband to achieve it! Next time….

Jan 18
I’m such a goof. The above comment wouldn’t work, as that has to be worked in the round anyway. I’d have to break the yarn after every row. Might be worth it tho, on some other project….

Finished peplum. Did 11 rows, and went up to an I hook for rows 9-11. Also finished front bands.

Started 1st sleeve cap, designing my own shaped, worked-on cap is proving challenging….

Jan 21
First sleeve done. Devising my own seamless tapering sleeve with a shaped cap was more time consuming (and required more frogging!) than I anticipated. But the result is worth it, and the second will go smoother. Just statred 5th ball a few rows before the cuff. Bet I won’t need the 6th ball.

Got busy with life…
Sleeve notes - 13 shells around at end of cap. Work 11 rows even. 2 rows to dec 1 shell.

Jan 25
Done! Just needs blocking. Used every inch of 5th skein. Thought I had a bit left, but decided sleeves were too short. Added 3 more rounds to each & was perfect.

Been super-busy at work. Finally had time to block tonight, so hope I can get finished pics still in January!

Jan 31
Finally finished drying so I could wear of today! Will wear it to work some day this week & get some photos so I xan mark it complete!

I think I’m going to frog this. Gained weight, haven’t worn it in years, and love the yarn. Seems a shame to have it linger in the cedar chest.
