This is a mega-swatch I’ve been working on showing another stab at a kufiyyeh pattern this time using proper yarn and not cotton. I worked in the round and have set up a steek.

I’ve changed the pattern I was using to show the actual motif and not the negative space, and something clicked with the stranded color work and I’m pretty proud of myself! The border is done in mosaic and reads «سلام‎» or “salaam”, “peace/peace of mind”.

You can see my figuring out things as I went with the mosaic border, increasing and decreasing, changing stitches, hiding the red yarn when attaching to the main work, playing with pattern elements….so many variables.

Aside: I really love Holst Garn!
