Going back to the kufiyyeh pattern, picking up from my previous efforts (including the small charts for the patterns themselves). I’ve gone up a needle size, and have used the brighter red color from Holst (I’m so in love with this yarn).
I liked the idea of the applied border and the mosaic square kufic Arabic from before (less bind off, easier to fix any mistakes) but I think I’m going to do a full border of stranded knitting, which I think I have mastered pretty well.
I’m also hoping to get this past the mega-swatch stage, and to make an actual scarf—this will involve a long steek, so need to look into that as well.
I really love the “happy accident” of the middle of where I reversed the angled border which produced a diamond. I think I want to try doubling the red here which would be truer to the woven patterns I’ve seen.
That moment when you realize how you should have worked to make things much easier, but you have to plow through to the end anyway….
I think I have figured out a way to continue with the patterning from a center-out square knit that would avoid steeking, picking up stitches, etc. I’m going to pick up the two steeked edges and complete the pattern square just to have a finished piece.
Knit and learn!
