Notes

Round 2, working in gray: added a strand of John Arbon’s heavy lace for the toes and heels to bring in some silk and alpaca re-inforcement. Moved to 4 x 2 rib with 1 x 1 rib in the cuff.

Final notes for the black and brown socks: One heel has two more rounds than the other LOL.
Slightly too long in the foot.

Will report back on the wear!

General notes: I’ve started exploring sock yarns without nylon in my goal to avoid wearing plastic anymore. I did two pairs in Garthenor Organic sock yarn, and I did love working with the yarn, but the heel did give out (after about 30 wearings) which perhaps is par for the course….I think there is also an issue when I’m moving from in-the-round to the German short rows back and forth, and my stitches become looser. Need to explore further here.

The socks shown here are in Retrosaria Mondim, and so far I really love this yarn (which I have also used in beanies). Finishing up the leg and will report back after.

So far my recipe is as follows:

I also wrote up a Perl program to calculate the toe and print out an instruction list to follow; I’m hoping to adapt it to take in measurements and the like to calculate the full sock based on desired size.
