It is feeling decidedly wintery today (25th August) and my summer slippers just won’t do.

I cast these on Friday night and am wearing them on Monday morning. They were very quick to make - an evening of knitting and two episodes of Miss Marple to sew up. The felting was rather hit and miss as I have a front loading washing machine and you can’t interrupt the cycle to see how it is all going.

I put the slippers into a lingerie laundry bag, added two tennis balls, two pairs of crocks and a hand towel. Washed firstly on 60 degrees, then twice on 40 and the bits that were uneven, I finished by hand.

They took two days to dry in the sun, and about 10 mins to finish and add buttons.

I’ve found that they are not so uniform as the ones on other people’s projects, but I rather like their wonkiness. If I make another pair, I would felt by hand.
