A condition of my Dad’s impending retirement is that he must, of course have a sleeveless jumper to wear. To look properly retired, you know?
On the instruction that it must be a sludgy colour with ‘none of that fancy nonsense’ (later interpreted as not to look like an aran jumper but could have a couple of cables), this is what we have finally come up with.
This will be the third attempt at getting the right pattern, the first being too boring, and the second too busy once it was half knitted ::le sigh::.
I’m hopeful on this one. He picked it out himself :)
It is lovely to knit so far, and is very easy, in front of the tv knitting.
On finishing the back, I realised that I have two different dye lots for the rest of the top, even though I ordered the yarn all at the same time from the same place. Hmmm. I’m in the process of obtaining more yarn in the right dye lot at the moment, so this may take a little longer than I expected…
29th October - The yarn has arrived but my Dad isn’t sure about the cables and doesn’t know what he wants instead. It’s hibernating while I finish off a Man-Jumper instead.
15th Nov - It seems that the original cables are now okay so I’m going to crack on with the front of this now in time for Christmas.
19th Dec - Hurrah! Finished :) Went with a different cable in the end as the instructions were wrongly written and there wasn’t too much time to be messing about, so used a series of twists in the end. I’m very pleased with the result and if he doesn’t like it, then as you can see, it fits me too!!
