Notes

My project is a scarf but I’m choosing colors only twice a month, min and max temps on chosen days. And a few other rules and regs to keep my scarf interesting but cohesive, the colors heathered and complimentary.

2”/color, hurdle stitch, transition to new color with R3 color 1, R4 color 2, cont with color 2
Hmmm, can I slip some stitches for interest between colors in these transition rows? Yes, slip the purl stitches wyib.
Use neutral color to separate months: knit Little Ridged Knot pattern, followed by modified Crossover Stitch, and then Little Ridged Knots again. Should be about 2”.
1/2” neutral garter or seed stitch at beg and end

11mo x 6” = 66” + 4”Dec + 1” garter = 71” + 3-4” Neutral K rows (11 x 0.33”) = 75”

10” x 4.5-5st/in = 45-50st
2” x 6-7R/in = 12-14R
Swatch: 5st/in; 6.5R/in; US 7

To calculate yardage:
Generally, Length x width x gauge/6
So, 72 x 10 x 4.5-5 = 3240/6 = 540-600y
The scarf will have textured stitches so may need more total, maybe 700y ?
Approx 10y/in
So neutral: 11mo x 2” = 22” + 1” = 23” x 10y = 230y (get 3 skeins just in case)

How to pick colors:
2 bins: less than 0 to 50F and 51 to greater than 100F

less than 0 to 50F:
Lake Ice 3x, 24.5 g
Claret 2x, 18.9 g
Aurora 2x, 17.8 g
Fjord 2x, 20.6 g
Baltic 2x, 17.7 g

51 to greater than 100F:
Bouquet 3x, 29.1 g
Merlot 2x, 17.2 g
Noble 2x, 19.2 g
Brass 3x, 30.8 g
Amber 3x, 29.1 g

Mink -Neutral, between months, 119.8 g

Total: 344.7 g

Each skein will knit about 8 or 10” (or 4-5x)

Some of my self-imposed rules and regs are:
• 10 different colors + a Neutral
• Colors are divided into two bins:

less than 0 to 50F and
greater than 50 to greater than 100F

• Colors are picked randomly twice a month based on minimum and maximum temps on pre-determined days
• Once a color is used, it stays out of commission for 2 turns
• When a skein is all used, it is permanently out of commission
• 2” of Hurdle Stitch per color with a transition between colors
• 2” of Crossover Stitch for the neutral between months

Pattern:
Colors section: Hurdle stitch- reversible
7-10.5g

Neutral section: Little Ridged Knots followed by Crossover stitch and then Little Ridged Knots again.
10-12g

Finished! It’s blocking now to open up the crossover st pattern.
Final measurements are: 12” wide x 87” long!!!!
A scarf to wrap my body, lol.
