I have really been frustrated with this project. I got it as a take-a-long project because none of it is especially complicated to work on while traveling or waiting knitting. However, I have had the worst time with the look of my stockinette. I had put this in time out several occasions, trying at least three different kinds of needles and was ready to just frog it all. As you can see in the first picture, the stockinette is wonky and horribly uneven!

I remember reading somewhere that sometimes it does matter which end of the skein you use or how the skein is wound into a cake. So instead of scrapping the whole thing, I rewound the cake the opposite direction into a ball and cast on again, using my original needles.

WILL WONDERS NEVER CEASE??!?!?! My stockinette is mostly back to normal! I cannot believe what a huge difference it makes just working from the other end of the skein. It probably has something to do with the fact that this is cotton yarn and not wool and therefore less forgiving, but I will have to make sure that I test knit a bit on each of the other two colors before I just take off knitting with them. I had knit and ripped the first section so many times that the whole cake needed to be rewound because I couldn’t find the opposite end anymore. So now I have a ball and two cakes. I’m OK with that!

A few stumbles along the way. Particularly had issues with the wording on Section 2. I read it as you should have 8 OVERALL ridges, but further investigation revealed that you should have 8 of each color=16 ridges. Unfortunately I discovered this after I had finished with Section 3, so….frog time for this gal!

The stockinette isn’t perfect, but I can totally live with it.

Finished up today. While I like the look and feel of the yarn, I’m not really a fan of the way it knit up. Maybe it will even out after blocking, but tension was a nightmare the entire time.
