Start hem:
Knit three garter ridges. Change to contrast color. Knit 2 rounds. Next round Knit 2, YO, repeat until end of round.
Knit two more rows. Fold hem. Sew or knit live stitches into upper portion of purl ridge on wrong side (by knitting or sewing the live stitch together with the purl ridge.)
