Following the pattern, you’re supposed to use needles size 6mm to begin, then size 7mm in the middle of the work, and size 8mm at the end.

I don’t have needles size 6mm, so I started directly with size 7mm. It’s better I think because the pattern indicates that the base of the hat is 45cm long… a little bit too short for me!
