I thought I would make these into pillow covers, but that didn’t really excite me. A year and a half later, I realized I could seam the flowers together and make perfectly sized little mats for our cat, who will obligingly lie down wherever you put a little blanket.

For the half-flowers:
Row 1: Ch 5, sl st into the first chain to make a loop.
Row 2: Ch 4, 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc, ch 1, 1 dc
Row 3: (new color) Ch 4, dc, (in next space) 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc, (in next space) 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc, (in last space) 2 dc, ch 1, 1 dc
Row 4: Break yarn and start again on far right side of flower. Ch 3, 3 dc, 7 dc in next space, 7 dc in next space, 3 dc in last space
Row 5: (new color) sc in each dc, dc into space between petals, repeat around
Row 6: (new color) Ch 3, 8 dc, ch 1, 9 dc, ch 1, 8 dc
Row 7: (new color) repeat Row 6
