I’m knitting this luxurious version for myself for the Fernwood KAL!!!
Yarn Substitutions
I’m using Drops Air and Drops Wish held together to make a weightless, cloud-like cardigan for this lux version! I swatched many combinations of yarn before deciding to use these two, but had quite a few favorites. I wrote up a blog post with my review of each swatch here.
Yardage Calculations
I made up a handy calculator to determine the yardage I would need of each of the yarns I’m using for this cardigan. I’ve posted it here.

Yoke complete! I was anticipating having to add a few rows to meet the pattern specs but my measurements are bang on for raglan depth.

V-neck shaping complete! My length measurement is right on track with the pattern. The final increase row of the v-neck calls for markers to be placed at the neckline edge, I’ve posted a photo of this marker placement.

I reached the hip shaping and my slightly smaller row gauge has finally caught up to me (I’m getting 12.5 rows over 4 inches when the pattern calls for 12). After trying on my WIP I needed to work an additional full repeat of Double Moss stitch (4 rows) to achieve the length specified in the pattern. I’ve posted a photo showing the hip increases (orange markers) - by making paired increases side by side it keeps the Double Moss stitch unbroken.

Finished the body! My length met the pattern specifications before moving onto the ribbed hem without having to add any additional rows. I was happy with where this length fell on my body and love how weightless these yarns are!

Finished the buttonband! I’ve made a video tutorial about this step for anyone needing a visual aid. My cardigan appears shorter than the original when in fact the body is the same length. The yarn I’m using doesn’t have the same weight or drape and so it doesn’t stretch the same way when worn. I might back track and pull out the buttonband and hem ribbing to add a few extra rows to the body. I’m not sure yet!

Finished both sleeves! I knit more tightly in the round so I decided to switch to a larger needle to work the sleeves and I’m really happy with the fit and length (I worked the body on a 10mm and the sleeves on a size 12mm). I made a video on how to pick up along the underarms without creating big holes at each end.
