Sometimes, the perfect yarn and the perfect knitting pattern come together and the result is … delightful!
I bought the yarn (Araucania Botany Lace - 100% merino wool) a couple of years ago and i’ve been waiting for inspiration! The pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of this yarn - sorry! It is a lovely soft greeny blue with slashes of colour in it and the shawl seems to glow. Unfortunately, this yarn is now rare as hen’s teeth, because the brand was taken over by Debbie Bliss and a new line hasn’t appeared (although some online shops have old stocks of it).
The Reyna shawl is wonderful … once you get into the rhythm of the mesh stitch, this knit is very soothing. I love the way that the mesh gets progressively wider as the shawl gets longer. It only needed light blocking to open out the mesh and establish the triangular shape.
I shall be knitting it again …

I found the yarn for the second Reyna shawl in a lovely yarn shop in Rothenburg, Germany when we were touring the Romantic Road in September 2018. This copper coloured yarn really gleams and the lighter colour seems to glow. The resulting shawl is lightweight, soft and drapey. Gorgeous!

My friend’s mum admired her shawl, so I used my second skein of botany lace to make the blue shawl.
