This is a special banner I’ve been planning for a couple years.I wove the banner for the “weave a diary” WAL (though I’m a bit late) lol!
I spun the yarns at the first Yarnival, celebrating the opening of my friend’s studio. I will send the banner to her, bringing the yarn/fiber full circle. I used a 100 thread wool prewound warp that I spaced out with skips and crams to about 14”
For this banner, I used 2 handspun yarns and different textured/boucle saori yarns. I also printed a Shel Silverstein poem onto acidfree scrapbook paper and tore out each line. I added these strips on top of the super bulky yarn in the weft as I wove. I added 2 corks from Boeger wines as well.
the handspun yarns are both navajo plies.. the one on the bottom are scraps of fiber I found outside in the Orchard and the top super bulky one is from scraps I swept off the floor. I carded these scraps into 2 batts and spun each one the night before I left the studio.
I hope Lexi loves this as much as I do, and I had so much fun making it. Her studio is a special place I enjoy spending time, and I hope it welcomes many others as I feel welcome.
