Notes

Bought some very expensive Madeline Tosh merino DK at the gorgeous Loop in Islington then had a complete quandry about what to knit…. Wanted to have smooth colour transitions, some texture, and a neat fit. Started and frogged, started again with the Mailin pattern as my base but my gauge was off so it took some recalculating.

Mods: no pattern panel on the front, fewer decreases in the sleeve and modified the raglan increases to accommodate my gauge. Made the sleeves long because when you’re tall it’s such a treat to get sleeves that go all the way to your wrists and more.

Colour - at the point of changing from one ball to the next, I did alternate rows from each for 6 rows overall. Because I had to divide each ball into three (body / sleeve / sleeve) I worked out the ratio (65% / 17% / 17%) then knitted with the digital scales right beside me.

I originally finished this with a pocket but decided it was too long - the wool is soft so it’s not going to give you the boxy knit like my black Mailin- and the pocket didn’t add anything so frogged it back by a few inches.

Bind off - Jeny’s super stretchy.

Texture - broken moss stitch.

Very pleased, feels fantastic, love the colour changes and, finally, the shape!
