Starting my official planning for my next big colorwork blanket!

Blanket is finally fully charged! Next step:calculating yardage. Not fun, this is one of the most tedious jobs.
And I have to decide if I want to change anything. It is hard to let go and just decide to be done.

Yarn has arrived. Now i just need to assign portions out, estimate how much of each color is needed per person, break up my balls of yarn, and ship!

about to start my first square!

First 3 little squares are complete now, and most of the sample knitters have their yarn to begin their portions. I’m just dying to knit it, to sew it up, to block it the first time, to photoshoot, everything!

So. A mistake in the pattern indicated that the steek should be between elephants rather than medallions. Which I discovered AFTER both multi-hundred-stitch-wide strips were knit .
Painful.
Basically, trying to cut and sew and having crazy seams on the back wasn’t a good option because I want to be able to show it off in person. Reknitting the whole thing is a horrible time hole. So I dropped the entire 89 stitch wide section and am almost done reknitting the first one. It’s a bit tricky trying to use exactly the same amount of yarn of each colour, every row. Also, dropping the stitches wasn’t fun either. Thankfully, the fluff of unknit yarn isn’t tangling. Once I had the first rows down, it is going pretty well. This is definitely adding to the time making the pattern, though!

I have completed re-knitting the elephant strips (I should say, one panel and the steek on each strip, not the entire thing) and am now working on getting the mass of the blanket grafted together. Once that is done, lots of tails to weave in on the steeked outer squares, then they get grafted, and after that… just binding the edge
The end is in sight!!!!
Here is to hoping I get the blanket and pattern complete before baby #2 arrives in 3 months…

All squares are conplete, and pinned together!
Just grafting all those tiny steeked squares to the edge, and then tails to weave in on the backside.
So exciting!
