A few days in on this -not sure why i started this hat other than i came across the really pretty decrease. Not sure how either of us will feel about the abrupt decrease creating what looks like a flat top. Also not sure how we’ll feel about the scratchy yarn for a hat.

I couldn’t quite match the probably suggested yarn colors. I did have a couple of them, but the ones i did have didn’t work well in the gradient with those i had to replace(for those colors i didn’t have) - so i went with my own, very-similar colors. I’m really kinda digging them!

Also - i might have to research this some - my Shetland spindrift is very clearly a 2-ply, but doesn’t list that in it’s name on the band. When i do the auto complete here, there’s Shetland spindrift and there’s Shetland spindrift 2-ply, both fingering weight. I started with the 2-ply version, then saw it listed 165g. The non 2-ply lists 115g. My bands list 105g. I went with the non 2-ply listing, adjusting the weight. Dunno what results I’ll get - the only one i really need to worry about running out of is the heron (background gray color).

Ran out of Heron, had to finish last 8-9 rows with Shaela.

Hat is basically finished - just need to wash and weave in ends.

It’s really pretty before being washed, even though i didn’t get quite the color contrasts i expected. That’s what i get for no test swatches and no b&w photo tests.

This was finished a couple weeks ago - it got soaked and dried, and just needs the ends woven in. I might actually give it another good, vigorous washing to try and snug it up a little bit?
