Just finished the body of the first mitt, and guess who didn’t make note of what CO he did for the first mitt.
I’d seen note elsewhere re: concern about how weak it seems with so few rounds knit after rejoining post thumb hole. That definitely seems the case here.
I also feel my knit-flat fair isle rows to either side of the thumb hole are a bit more loose than the rest of the mitt. I hadn’t knit fair isle flat before, and will likely avoid it after completely the second mitt.
Normally i love the looks of miss 6 stitch, but so far I’m feeling it’s a bit lost here - possibly a combination of the dark color (birch), and the irregularity of the Shetland Spindrift?
These things are long! Feels like they’re bordering on socks!
No idea who they be gifted to. Whoever i ask would have to be warned of the not-so-softness of Shetland Spindrift (NOT a complaint! I like it, it’s just not a yarn for everyone).
They’re kinda making me want to design some fair isle!
At this stage, after completing the body but still needing to do the thumbs, the pattern instructs to turn the mitts inside out and steam press them before picking up stitches to add the thumbs. I’ve seen where others modified the thumb join section, and think i would do it differently as well. I worry these thumbs will feel like after thoughts.

Happy to say these found the most deserving home - their new home is with ewserk . When I saw how the vibrant colors came together, AND because Edith and I were both taking Tracey Doxey’s fair isle colorwork class together, it seemed fitting that Edith wear them!
