March 6, 2021

Because my yarn collection has too many worsted weight whites, this strip will have more white than the previous four.

Beginning with section 1/days 1 and 2.
I moved the small 8x8 squares from right edge to left, and doing the 25x24 square in two row stripes of white and blues/white variegated.

March 9, 2021

One section done! Nine to go.

March 12, 2021

Second section (actually Section 3) done.
I kept the small ‘filler’ squares on the right-hand edge at 8 stitches, except for one, which is an 8x12x8 rectangle, using the directions for square #153.

As much as possible, I am trying to avoid narrower motifs. 24 + 24 + 8 = 54

Well, if one insists on changing things around, mistakes will happen. I had decided to switch the bits of Section two left for right, but I neglected to actually look at the pattern, before doing the ‘windows’ - which are the same size as the ‘pinwheel’ which should have been there.
Mix-n-match time!

Section 5/days10 and 11 - mixed up placement. Square 66 replaced by #153, just to maintain width.

Fifth time doing the en point squares section, and first time it doesn’t pull in!! Why? Because some worsted weight yarns are thicker than others, and the dark purple is the thickest of this lot. Some of the blues are also thicker than most. The grey is the thinnest in this section.

Stalling! Only the Tetris section to do, but I’ve been either not knitting at all, or knitting two hats.
I have the yarn to make a sixth strip, but not much desire to do so. If I join them wirh knitted strips, the width of the strips will be enough to make up for the missing strip, no? I could even continue the mitred theme by making the joins with more mighty mitred squares! I think that’s the way to go.

April 24, 2021

Finally finished the knitting on this strip!!!

Later on - hopefully today - I want to strip the bed, and lay the strips across it. I think they’ll be joined by knitted mitred strips. AFTER the thousands of ends are dealt with, of course.
Plan: Five strips = four joins. PLUS a bordering strip of the same size little mitred squares along the long edges. Each little mitred square to be ~five x five stitches.
The border along the short edges (the edges that’ll be nearly touching the floor on the sides of the bed) will be a three-stitch i-cord, to avoid adding length to the already too-long piece.

TO DO (after ends are woven in):
count stitches
place stitch markers
plan layout of the five strips
select yarn for joining - maybe black?
Join ‘em!
Final border all around: applied i-cord.

Woohoo!!! ALL the bazillion ends - of this strip - woven in!!!

One down, four to go.
