Testing a pattern with the thinnest yarn I ever used, is driving me crazy! So, when this white-ish, 400 gram, 70% cotton/30% polyester ball of yarn turned up at Goodwill today, I immediately decided to also test the pattern with this thicker yarn, just to give my fingers a break.

This cockamamie yarn is made up of 8 too loosely plied strands. It’s splitty! But it does go loads faster than the other.

Since I had to take it off the needle in order to remove almost two rows, I measured it. It’s about 25” wide.

The thinner yarn has beaten me! After sweating through 36 rows of the lacy pattern, I gave it to Ginette to complete and keep: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/olithia/holey-angles-suite
I’m happy knitting this thicker version.

Partially frogged. Miraculously, I now have the correct number of stitches! I’m back to row 25 of the first lace chart.

Pattern says to repeat middle chart as often as wanted.
My yarn supply is limited. So, when I reach 70 rows done, I’ll weigh it, assume that’s the weight I’ll need to do the Top Chart + border + bind off, and repeat the Middle Chart , until about that weight is left.

Row 62 done!

Row 70 done. Needle replaced by a thin ribbon. Weight: 110 grams.
Remaining yarn weight: 285 grams.
I need to reserve at least 110 grams for Top Chart.
Yellow stitch marker placed at end of Row 70/beginning of Row 71.

Well, I have probably miscounted again. I believe that the marker I placed was actually at the end of Row 72, but I’m leaving it there anyway. If a couple of rows too many were weighed, the worst result will be too much yarn leftover. Not a problem.

Added photos of the set of needles I’m using for this. No, they’re not the best in creation, but they are very good. Pointy. Swivel. Very flexible cables. Wide range of sizes - 3mm through 8mm - eleven sizes. The length of the tip and the metal part of the cable comes to a comfortable 5.5”. Paid $55.07 on July 13, 2024; rec’d July 22, 2024.

Blood sugar dropped to 3.0, so drank some (alcohol free) egg nog, and knitted a few rows on this. The only knitting I’ve done since waking up yesterday afternoon. Stopped after doing Row 60 of this repeat - the third repeat, I think.
Now, to catch a couple of hours sleep, before it’s time to go to Sunday Morning Knitting!

Finished third repeat.
155 g left.
Knitting (including circular and three stitch markers) weighs 255g.
I’m going to risk doing a fourth repeat.
Length - relaxed - of third section is 7”.

As I neared what’s supposed to be Row 61, I finally noticed that things are out of kilter. Time for some serious tinking, if I can resist just frogging back to the end of the previous repeat.

Ever so slowly, I progress.
It would help if I didn’t need to rip back a few rows every so often.
Now done Row 66 of fourth repeat.

I ran my lifeline in Row 70. Used antique black button thread. Possibly silk. 6” hardwood spool. From stash of … my mother? her mother or mother-in-law? The remaining label is indecipherable.

Fourth repeat done.
105 grams yarn left.
305 grams knitted - including circular, lifeline. and stitch markers.

I should have weighed the yarn before beginning!

FINISHED!
Pattern perfect!
Needs a wash and blocking.
The lifeline wasn’t needed!
Finished with golf ball sized bit of leftover yarn (No idea what’s going to become of it.)
Unwashed weight: 385g
The golf ball sized leftover yarn weighs 15, or 10, or zero grams! Depending on ?
When assessing to the shawl on the scale, no change in weight!
