Test knit for the lovely Joji.
I have not made any of the Boxy pullovers (but I will soon!) so this was a chance to make one and also get to knit a design before everyone else. The pullover is designed to have a 12-inch positive ease, but I know I will not be able to do all that knitting within a deadline, and also I want a closer fit so I decided to knit the Small.
Using yarn destashed from Melissa a year or so ago. Glad I got gauge, just about, I was off by a quarter of an inch but it was okay because that would address the positive ease issue.
I added a few more rows on the front and back before joining to account for the smaller armhole in the design and my rather chunky arms. No worries there because it was easy to figure out where I was in the pattern, just have to keep that in mind so that I don’t have to frog to stay in pattern.
Next the length. I didn’t want a really long, tunic-length pullover, besides I might run out of yarn so, praying to the Blocking Gods that it will grow, I stopped at around 14.5 inches and bound off. And yes, soaking and blocking did wonders for the length!
The sleeves were another modification I made. I want to be able to wear this in Dubai, during the cooler months, which is a very limited window. I have nearly 2 skeins left when I started the sleeves, but one skein was all in knots thanks to two foster kitties who couldn’t keep their claws to themselves! So I decided to do a short sleeve, at least until it hits the crook of my arm. Perfect length!
Thank you, Joji for the opportunity to knit this and don’t hate me too much for modifying a few things :) It’s amazing to be in such a talented group of fellow testknitters!
