Got gauge! Yay!
24 Aug 2013: Cast on! A bit fiddly at first, but gets into a good rhythm once you start on the sleeve caps. There has to be a better way of doing this, maybe provisional cast on? Too many yarn ends! I chose to weave them in as I go otherwise I might start knitting with a yarn end.
25 Aug 2013: Ready to put the sleeves on hold. I love this so far. And the sleeves work like a charm!
9 Apr 2015: This project went on a very long hiatus, which is unfair as it is a lovely thing, but the sheer bulk doesn’t make it very portable. I picked it up again a few days ago and actually finished knitting the body, hem and all. I am now on the very long collar band (extra long because I added an inch to the body). I think I will use up all of the skeins and knit the sleeves two-at-a-time.
I have this crazy plan of wearing only garments (tops and cardigan at least) that I knitted if our office trip to Romania happens in Dec 2015.
19 Apr 2015: Done! Doing the sleeves two-at-a-time helped a lot even though they’re not very long sleeves. I did a 12-row rib for the sleeve cuff just so it reaches the crook of my arm. I’m sure soaking and blocking would relax the fabric more.
I only did 4.25 inches of the collar as I was at the end of the skein and didn’t want to have to join a new skein. Suits me just fine and I kinda like it better wearing it flipped towards each other instead of outwards.
Modelled photos soon!
