After nearly 3 months of dedicated work on the Mellow Mood Sweater knitting pattern and its successful release, I took a well-deserved break. But, as we all know, it’s hard to stay away for long! That’s when I found myself venturing into uncharted territory - the men’s version.

I’ve never knitted or designed a men’s sweater before. This is an entirely new journey for me, so I decided to take a different approach. Rather than getting caught up in numbers and specifics, I’m following my intuition. Choosing the same size as the women’s Mellow Mood sweater, I’m embracing the challenge and regularly trying it on my husband, Alex, as I go along.

The aim is to simplify the process, allowing the knitting to flow naturally without fixating on the technicalities - a dream I’m pursuing.

Phew, I’ve never knit this fast before! While the size L does take a bit more time compared to the S, I must say, I’ve found even more joy in the process than when crafting for myself.

Witnessing the recipient’s excitement during each fitting and his eager anticipation for the finished piece is truly fulfilling. “Are you planning to do wet blocking? I want everything to be just perfect and beautiful.” :)))

As for the design itself, there have been some enhancements to ensure it complements the male physique:

1. I’ve halved the ease compared to the women’s model
2. Towards the bottom, there will be a simple decreasing just before reaching the ribbing.

But, the final decision is in the hands of my incredible technical editor and amazing test knitters. They are the core of this project, and this design exists because of their dedication.
