I ❤️ My Hottie: Hot Water Bottle Cozy

Notes

I used various worsted and sport weight yarns from my stash --
I only cast on 60 stitches for the body of the work but it’s way too narrow. I can still stretch it over the hot water bottle but it really stretches out a lot so I had to make it extra long to compensate.

I made the heart by increasing and decreasing the intarsia edges to avoid the pixelated look however I was using the red yarn as double thickness and so it looks a bit clunky and chunky. It was my first ever attempt at doing intarsia using this method so it can only improve with practice

Jogless Single row stripes made by helical knitting in the round. The black and white sections put me in mind of speckled hens like Barred Plymouth Rock (my favorite kind)

Next time remember 70 stitches for the body of the work.

I picked up stitches to make the hand warming pocket but at 30 stitches it was so narrow that I had to increase to 50 stitches then decrease again at the top.

I just wanted a colorful striped hot water bottle cover and this is what I came up with. It’s loosely based on a colorful striped beanie that I saw on Pinterest
