Notes

I used a worsted weight acrylic yarn.

Knit 6 sections of 12 row poppy after casting on 41 stitches.

Knit back backwards so never had to turn the work. Used German Short rows but on RH side of needle (i.e. when knitting back backwards) I had to make sure that I untwisted the stitch before pulling the legs over the needle to the other side when making the short row stitch. When knitting through the short row stitches on the RH side of the needle I had to make sure I untwisted short row stitch once again. This ensured that the RH short rows were just as invisible as the LH short row stitches. There is another way to do it and that is to slip the stitch just before the short row stitch, then separate the double legged short row stitch and knit the first leg with the previously slipped stitch through the back of the loop and then knit the second leg of the short row stitch separately through the back of the loop. https://youtu.be/Jf37k_VVohg

On the LH end of the needle I didn’t need to do anything special to make or knit through the short row stitches.

The knitted double bow is a bit heavy so I attached it in a few places to prevent it from flopping around. I hope it’s not too heavy for a little 21/2 year old girl to wear.

Finished dimensions 18” (46cm) circumference and 6.5 “ (16.5 cm) crown to brim length.
