I got this yarn for $1 per skein at Dollar Tree (23 skeins total actually in this color * edit - found more at another store - up to 49 skeins now). Not a color I would normally buy, but the more I crocheted this blanket, the more I liked it. Its not as tightly twined/twisted as I would normally buy, but it does have a nice satiny sheen to it. The drape of this particular yarn is very nice, holds its shape well. So, after starting out not too much of a fan, I’ve completely come around to liking this yarn tremendously.

The blanket stitch pattern is my go to easy sneezy baby blanket. Works up fast, pattern is easy - as Robin says, once you get the pattern (3 stitches) you could almost do it blindfolded. Border: I throw a row of single crochet round around the border (twice), then a row of double crochet, then alternating double crochet front and back post stitches (roughly 5 rows), then another round of single crochet (twice), and finish off with 1 round of the crab stitch or reverse single crochet which helps it lay flat and gives the edge that tiny rope look. I only use 2 crochet stitches in the corner with 2 chains in between the stitches (following that if you are on a double crochet round, you would be using a double crochet, chain 2, double crochet in the same stitch/corner) Gives the blanket an elaborate looking finish with just a few different stitches. The blankets I make this way are usually gifted, and I receive many many compliments on them.

And now that this one is gifted I’m making another one….LOL
