Testing Diana’s SilkyBoo base.
- fist impression when handling the yarn - it was beautiful, the color stunning and it had an exceptional sheen.
- after untwisting the skein, I noticed imedidetely that it would have a great heavy drape when knit up. When snapping and straightening the hank all the stands immediately lined up
- winding the yarn cake was a breeze, performed beautifuly without any hang ups.
- Today I’ve CO a little swatch with a cable and twisted stitch pattern.
- I noticed a slight halo on the yarn but nothing unusual or deterrent.
- I unraveled a few times on purpose, to see if it would look much fuzzier, but I think it’s only slightly more so.
- It’s a pleasure to knit with it. I feel it has more grab, than Diana’s Heavy Lace Bamboo, which at times I personally had difficulty working with.
- I do tend to get caught up in the fibers from time to time with my knitting needles, but it’s not a big problem at all.
- Stitch definition is good. The fiber has a rope like twist, so perhaps not suitable for detailed stitch effects in this weight, but I DO love how my twisted stitches came out.
- I used US 3 Lykke wooden knitting needles and I would say I liked the look of my fabric with it. It definitely is not sport weight, but feels more like fingering.

I’ve cast on the poppy cowl.
- at first I was getting frustrated with the Poppy Path pattern I purchased, as I couldn’t see the design show up. It actually doesn’t call for twisted stitches but I twisted all the knit stitches and now I am satisfied.
there is a visible halo on the cast on edge, but it doesn’t bother me. In comparison it’s like DFY Tussah, which is one of my faves. SilkyBoo fells emazingly soft and luscious to work with.

I finished my project, blocked it and had a chance to take some pictures.
SilkyBoo has an absolutely luminous sheen.
-
It was a real pleasure to knit with it, it’s amazingly soft and felt like liquid running through my fingers.
-
The color is stunning! Expertly dyed with care and it shows.
-
I am looking forward to getting more. Perhaps a summer top next.
I used size US 3 Bamboo needles. Added two pattern repeats for a slightly wider cowl.
