Notes from Melanie
While the pattern itself totally works for more than one color in the textured part, keep in mind that it is seed stitch: that means you have knits and purls on both sides of the fabric. The color transitions will not be smooth here, as the purl bumps after a color change will appear as small, dotted lines in the new color. Please do a small swatch to see if you like that - sometimes this effect can really be pleasing. (But sometimes not.)
If you don’t like the way this looks but totally want to use the Kismet gradients, I’d do it like this: Alternate textured sections with lace sections. In my Sunwalker, I’m having one large area of textured, then one large area of lace, and then a small textured border. Instead of doing this, do a small textured area, a small lace one, a small textured one, a small lace one… and so on. For these two, it will be easy to alternate colors.
As I said before in this thread already: As long as you start the lace section with a stitch count of 6n + 8 you’ll be fine. :)
Aug 23-swatched the gradient set- I think it will work awesome on the textured section. I also think I did the wrong stitch pattern but I still think it will work just fine!
Aug 26 - just started the 9th repeat of seed stitch. going well but slow, all that knit - purl is rough on the wrists
Aug 30 - row 10 of the 15th repeat I started my second skein in the gradient!!!
Sep 6-Added 3rd color of gradient in (last few stiches of 4th row)
Sep 29- started 4th color, in 5th row of chart B of the lace. It’s slow going, but will be so pretty!!!
Oct 5 - added 5th color, 7th row of chart a (2nd repeat) can probably finish this week
Oct 12th--completely bound off. ends woven in and blocking!!!!
