I started (and ended) the ribbing with k2 instead of k3 (and p2, k1) because I find it easier to seam with knit stitches on each side. Also, I used size 6 needles instead of 5 because I wanted a less tight ribbing although I got gauge with the listed larger needles (size 8) for this pattern.
~ finished first ball of yarn 8” into back
~ found knotted join in second ball
~ found fray in second ball that had to be cut and started as a new strand
~ finished second ball of yarn 16” into back
~ finished third ball of yarn one row before finishing back. Seriously, I needed less than a yard and a half to finish it and now I have to weave in two extra ends.
~ finished back on 9 March
~ found knotted join in fourth ball
~ finished fourth ball of yarn 8” into front
~ finished fifth ball of yarn 15 1/2” into front
~ working sides of front with each end of ball 6
~ finished sixth ball of yarn 3 1/2” into first sleeve
~ finished seventh ball of yarn 18 1/2” into first sleeve
~ finished eighth ball of yarn 11 1/2” into second sleeve
~ finished knitting second sleeve on 27 April. I have a ton of ends to weave in, which I hate! I will use some of them to join the pieces but I also have plenty of places where I joined yarn, ugh.
~ started a new ball (the tenth) to work shawl collar so that I would not have to deal with a join in it. I am kind of surprised how much yarn it is taking.
~ finished the collar on the 2nd of May, now I just have a couple more ends to weave in and I will be finished!
I dislike seaming but I do get a sense of satisfaction when I close up a seam that then looks invisible from the right side. That only works for vertical seams of course. Nothing makes me happy about attaching sleeves to the body. I should only make one piece raglans from now on. (I keep saying that.)
I had 12g left of ball #9 and 34g of ball #10
The collar doesn’t fold over as well as I had pictured but that will probably come with time (and blocking) as the ribbing relaxes.
Also, the sleeves are a little tight. I am sure this is because I made the sweater without ease. Overall, I am pleased with the result.
