I really should not be making another shawl, I didn’t have anyone to give the last one to; it is still unblocked in a pile (I should block it anyway but that is a separate issue). I did enjoy the last mystery knitalong from this designer so I decided to make this anyway. Maybe I will think of someone I know who doesn’t own a shawl yet :)
One thing I don’t like so much about this shawl (and the last one) is that they start out small and get bigger, so that each row takes longer to knit than the last. This is pretty common shawl construction, of course but I do love shawls that come along faster as I get closer to the end, even though I know it doesn’t actually matter time-wise. It’s a psychological thing, I know, and it doesn’t stop me from knitting lovely patterns that work this way (most of them), of course.
I have some trouble with slipped stitch edges. I love how they look but I find that they are often too tight to block as aggressively as I like so I sometimes do a yo after the slipped stitch then drop it on the next row since I am apparently incapable of just working that one stitch more loosely than the others. This does make the edge a little too loopy but I can stretch it as much as I want and I tend to like the look.

28 September - completed clue #2
I took a big long break to work on other projects and have no idea when I completed clue #3
24 January - completed clue #4
(note: I finished my first skein of yarn (440 yds) three rows before the end of clue #4)
Clue #5 says that the last row of Chart 4 ends with the center panel being worked on row 38 but I finished on row 36. The math that I did shows that seems right:
134 (number of total rows) = 14 (number of rows in the repeat) * 7 (number of repeats) + 36 (number of rows that should be on the Center Panel chart)
10 February - completed clue #5
The shawl is not quite finished yet though since I plan to add rows before the bind off.
I added 6 rows of garter stitch (increasing with a yo on each side of right side rows) to the end of this shawl since my last shawl curled some even after blocking. On the last WS row, I added a yo between each stitch which I dropped when binding off (which, as always, I did with a larger needle) this elongated those stitches, leaving open spaces through which I can weave my blocking wires, I am hoping to get a cool looking edge by doing it but I am not sure I will really know until I have blocked this.
