Another sock-weight yarn I inherited from Feloris. According to her labelling, this one had been intended for the “Larch” scarf, which is not 100% my style, so I’ll try my hand at a Rumpus Recipe Shawl instead.
06 Sept:
Set up the beginning of the shawl for my hospital stay.
07 Sept:
I’m glad I’ve still got time. Somehow my centre is off-centre, and I want this to be a symmetrical shawl. Restarting the whole thing, adding a second centre marker so they’re framing the centre stitch. (YOs now happen “inside” the two bits framed by one side marker and one centre marker each.)
09 Sept:
Totally botched yesterday’s diamond section because the written pattern doesn’t mention the shaping increases (border and centre YOs). Untangled my thoughts with the help of a friendly person from the knitting subreddit, then today frogged it all back and wrote out a diamond pattern with all the increases and with additional markers separating the diamond section from the increases. Hopefully I can keep up with this once I’ve aired out my head a little.
10 Sept:
I finally solved it!
The diamond section for row 10 should read: K2, YO, SKP, K1, K2tog, YO, K2.
(In the written pattern there is only a K1 after the last YO.)
Update: First successful fishnet pattern; first drop stitch pattern. Finally I feel ready to knit more easy lace projects! :D
22 Nov:
FINALLY got to the end of the yarn - only I lost at yarn chicken! Now do I frog back a bit tomorrow, or do I go for a “design element” and switch to a different colour for the last tiny bit and bind-off?
17 Dec:
Finally came across a yarn I like in combination with the one I started with. It’s super different (50% cotton, 50% acrylic), and the colour is visibly different too (a lot more grey and also more shiny), but I like it and I can imagine doing the last bit (around the edge) using this yarn. So here we go.
18 Dec: Done! :D
