Gorgeous pattern, helping me to get through the coronavirus lockdown, thank goodness for the videos, they help enormously :-)
Used shallow post stitches to edge the inner petals with violet.
Round crocheted in candyfloss - stitched the tips of the violet petals to the second tr along the sides and to the second last tr along the sides using a front post sl st to ensure that they are pinned down followed by ch 8 behind the work between each tip.
After round 19, my square measures 9 inches rather than 10 inches but I always turn out crochet that’s smaller than other people so I’m not surprised.
First round in plum, substituted front post for back post stitches in the middle sections to define the pistachio in the previous round.
Round 44 and I didn’t get along together very well!
I added an independent section in candyfloss to the front post stitches in the corners of the outer plum round to try to cover up some of this colour, (fphtr, fpdc, fphtr, fptr) x 4 followed by fphtr, fpdc, fphtr.
I crocheted dc instead of htr in rounds 52 and 54 because I was worried that I’d run out of this colour. Also didn’t skip any stitches in round 54 to compensate for the difference in st height.
Measures approximately 17 inches or between 43/44 cm.
Rated this pattern difficult because I wouldn’t advise a beginner to tackle it, especially one like me!
Weight is for the square only (excluding border) and includes the mods recorded above.
Wish I’d planned my colours a bit more and hadn’t used the plum. Tried to disguise it with a bit more ‘bling’ and it looks heaps better.
After sewing the square to the front of an old cushion cover, I crocheted the border with a 3mm hook to make it easier to get the hook into the sts now that it was sewn on.
Skipped 1st and 83rd sts along each side when making the border (these were extra sts added by me in round 54).
Border created by making repeats of (ss, skip a st, 7 htr in next st, skip a st), ending with a further ss. Used 10 htr instead of 7 in corners.
Wow, that’s a lot of notes for a project but I’ve got time on my hands right now, none of this is criticism of the pattern, just my own take on how I’ve made it :-)
