Still working my way through leftovers from the Schjeepes 2020 CAL and came across this pattern. It is part of the labyrinth blanket. I’ll probably stick to squares to try and use up lots of my different colours.
Struggling a bit with one of the later rounds. Have frogged several times so far.

Getting to know the pattern better now. Still have to use stitch markers for the penultimate row as I find positioning the waves tricky.
Trying it out the various colours is fun. Have ordered more of the background colour so I can keep going on the left overs and use it for joining.

I’m now wondering how to lay these out and how many squares to make. I think I’m aiming for 24/25 and I’ll then see how much yarn I have left. I may go for the diagonal layout if I have enough to make 10 half squares. I’m hoping that they are not too difficult to make.

I’ve started making some of the triangles. They are a bit tricky and I’ve had to change the colour sequence from the pattern as it does not follow the main square. This also means that I’m doing the last round on the right side rather than the wrong side. Hope this doesn’t make much difference overall. I think I’m committed to the diagonal layout now. I’ll need to decide if I’m going to add another round of background colour to each square or just use them as they are. Not sure which looks best. I have 3 more balls of the background colour so I would probably have enough, though I expect a border will take up quite a bit. Still enjoying the pattern and the challenge. There are lots of ends to sew in for the triangles.

I’ve done 9 triangles so far and 23 squares. The triangles have lots of ends to weave in.

I’ve just finished all the squares and triangles. Need to block them next and decide on a layout

Last bits on the blocking boards. Looking forward to starting to join once they are dry.

I’m up to the joining stage after blocking all the squares. I’ve done the joins in one direction, now just working on the verticals.

I’ve done two corner triangles. First one was complicated but much easier with the second one. Not sure which version of the border to go for.

The blanket is all joined up and I’ve just completed a border. I did attempt the spring flowers border but got lost and it wasn’t looking right. As the blanket is pretty colourful anyway, I decided to do 9-10 rows of double crochet through the back loop only. It looks quite nice. All that’s left to do now is to sew in the ends and give it a wash.

All finished. Ends sewn in and it has been through the washer. All I need to do now is parcel it up and send it to the recipient. Hoping that it will help her keep warm in the evenings and cut her fuel bill.
It looks very pretty and I’m pleased with it. I think the plain border looks fine given the intense colours and textures in the middle.
I’ve nearly used up the oddments from the two CALs that I did in 2021. Will have to find a scrappy project to use the final bits up.
