This project will come on holiday with me so I hope I’m up to the challenge. I’ve never made a garment before in crochet.

I had a practice with some left over whirl and seemed to get on OK with the short rows.
When I finally started for real, it was harder, I had a twist at one point and had to start again and then got as far as the mosaic start but then lost confidence in my stitch count.
Started again with more understanding of the pattern and now seem to be on the right track with the correct number of stitches.

I’m doing better with this now. I’m up to the end of the first yoke section. Mine is slightly too short so I have decided to add at least another 4 rows and try and be a bit looser.

This project is quite hard for me. I don’t have a very neat finish at the join on the back. I’ve had a conversation on FB with the designer on how to avoid it but I thought I’d been doing it correctly. However, given the effort it has taken me to get this far, I can live with the finish.
I’ve just got to the armpit separation and I think the fit is OK. I was worried it was getting a bit baggy at the front and that the armpit hole was too narrow.
I’m now not sure quite how the next round goes. I think the FPDC at the back of the top are now discontinued. Looking at Tatsiana’s photos on the pattern page, that looks correct. I’ve asked a question on the FB page.
I really hope this is going to fit OK. I don’t think I could bear to frog it (though I have learned a lot).

I’m getting into the swing of this now and the top is fitting better as it gets heavier. Still a long way to go. I wonder if my stitches are not deep enough - I should probably check my tension again.
Pattern is easy to follow at this point as all you are doing is following the mosaic chart and decreasing the stitches in the main colour at the back by two every other row so that the mosaic part starts to move round the top to the back.

I’ve just finished the main body of the top and am now starting on the ribbing. The cheap hook I have is very splitty and I’m not sure it is going to be usable given the number of rows that this will involve. I’ve ordered a clover armour 2.5 hook and that should come by the end of the week.

I’ve finished the ribbing at the bottom of the jumper. It is quite tight so hoping that it is OK. I’ve started on one arm. I’m having trouble working round and back so it is a good thing my join will be hidden under the arm. I’m going to try to do 3/4 length sleeves if I have enough yarn.

I really wasn’t happy with the join for the sleeves. I did wonder whether I could just do them in the round but after a fb conversation with the designer it is clear that this will give a different stitch which might spoil the look of the garment.
She suggested using stitch markers on the first and last stitch of the round. I’ve ripped the sleeve back to the beginning and I’m trying again. I have done about 5 rows and I think it is an improvement. I need to get into the rhythm for it. At least this way I’m unlikely to be creating stitches.

Stitch markers did improve the look of the sleeves and I’m happier with the finish. The ribbing was fiddly but effective. I’m not sure that I’ve got the ideal length for my sleeves but I don’t have enough main colour yarn to do much more and I would quite to wear this item now.
Washed and dried flat. Not blocked as such as I don’t want it to get any bigger and it looks good as it is.
