Inspired by Peacockpanda’s Mutant Aidez, I plan to copy her back patterns but use the original pattern or the front and sleeves. I also plan to make a petite sized sweater, since i’m 5’2. My version will be about 2.5-3 inches shorter.
FO Notes:
Finished Dimensions:
Width:
35” at armhole (with fronts touching):
38.5” at hem
Length:
24” (from bottom of collar to hem)
Sleeve length:
16.5” to armhole
Armhole length: 8.5”
This sweater is more of a jacket on me than a sweater. Were I to knit this again, I would make the overall length about 2” shorter. I’d make the armhole length shorter too -- I’m very short there. There’s about 1.5” of positive ease. This means that the sweater does not look good open, but does look nice with the fronts crossed over and fastened with a shawl pin.
Yarn: I’m not wild for this yarn. Yes it’s economical, but it’s also itchy. It draped pretty nicely for this sweater. But were I to knit it again, I would use a softer blend. I would also use a pretty color!
WIP notes
2/20: Knit a swatch over 30 stitches and got stitch gauge with size 10 needles. My row gauge is way off: about 6 rows per inch. I’ll need to make adjustments to the armhole decreases.
2/24: Charted patterns for back using this website:
http://jacquie.typepad.com/Charts/knitChart.htm
2/25: Cast on 71 and knit ribbing for about 2.25 inches (14 rows). Did not increase one stitch because I only need 71 stitches for the back patterns.
2/26: Started back patterns as follows:
Row 1: K4, K1TBL, p2, RT2, P1, Charts A, B, D, F, E, P1, LT2, K1TBL, K4.
Row 2: P4, P1TBL, K2, P2, K1, Charts A, B, D, F, D, K1, P2, K2, P1TBL, P4
3/3: Decreased armholes, modifying the pattern recipe by doing decreases every other row 7 times, then every fourth row 8 times.
3/15: I’ve started the fronts. I’m knitting them both at the same time.
3/25: I’m knitting the sleeves in the round up to the armholes. I started with a provisional cast-on and knit up starting after the ribbing.
4/7: After blocking the sleeves and sewing up the sides, I basted the the sleeves into the armholes. I used a three needle bind-off to connect the front neck pieces. I then unzipped the cast-on and knit the ribbing down, in order to get the sleeves exactly the right length.
4/9: Completed all sewing and wove in all the ends. Finished.
