I cast on 88 stitches. I’m doing 20 row panels.

W&T at 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 sts.

11 box stitch panels total.

Total length of skirt after wet blocking is about 19.5”.

I did one-row buttonholes over three stitches. This seems like it works well for 7/8” buttons.

I did do the 2 rows of crocheted slip stitch on the waist and they help to keep the waist from stretching.

I think the waist is going to be too stretchy, so I’m going to attempt to sew in some grosgrain ribbon. This will be a first for me, so I’ll be following this tutorial:

Update: used 4 pieces of grosgrain ribbon (yes, I went a bit grosgrain happy):

5/8” width along the waist

5/8” width up the side of the button band

3/8” width up the side that has the buttonholes

7/8” width under the buttons

I also sewed a snap to secure the overlap at the waist.

I added 5 belt loops on 3/19/12. Using US #5 needles, I cast on 4 stitches and knit in box stitch for 12 rows, then cast off. I sewed each loop to the top of every other “point” made from the short rows. Works very well with a 3/4” belt.
