Notes

I love: http://www.chasingrainbowsdyeworks.com/collections/cotton...

I bought 8 oz of this and it is my favorite dyed roving to spin. It is CARDED not combed and that makes a difference for me. I also will probably have to purchase 2 more oz. Or dye up some Avocado pima single about 800 yards worth to be save.

4/19: Decided to spin 2 Blue spruce then I dyed Avocado, which came out light. Ply ed the three together. The reason I did this is I do not think I will have enough yardage. This came out to 248 yards which will just about make it. I only made 686 of the avocado so I think I will have to dye more yarn.

5/3: 1/2 of the yarn is made. I am now spinning Chasing Rainbow Dye works on 2 bobbins. I picked sage as my main color and completed dying that on 5/1.

The reason I called it Chasing was after the drier but also I did a lot of chasing to get was I was looking for. Between the dying amounts of roving to buy, chasing for the correct pattern etc. Then I caught Rondeur in my raverly que and said this is it. At least I hope it is.

The yarn is spun lots of tweeting with the yarn. I bought 8 oz of Blue Spruce from Chasing Rainbow Dye Works. It was not enough so I had to add about 8 more and dye on my own.

5/27: Did a gauge swatch. I did not like the striping so I decided to do yarn exchange every other round. I searched though my favorites and found Rondeur which started in the round from the beginning.

5/31: I did a gauge swatch and found #4 needles gave me 5 stitches to an inch. I want to make the size 38. I have not done this pattern but I love Knitty magazine and their patterns are really good. Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark, the designer, taught a wonderful Craftsy class and I find her patterns exceptional.

8/5: C/O 110 Size 34. I am a size 36 so I will do 13 increase rounds so that is a total of 26 rows then try on top.

  10. P2,K2,P2

Increase 286 stitches to see if you can put the sleeves on the holder.

8/6: I did the rib and began the increases and cable/ lace rows. Put the top on. Fits perfectly around my neck. That is the most important part. I do not want my bra showing yet I do not want to choke in it too. I am using 2 different dye lots of yarn so I have to change every other row. The yarn is working great for this. My plying skills have improved. I am so happy about that.

8/24: I finished my Christmas Top. Now I can focus on this top. So what I have now is 28 for each sleeve and 56 for back and front. I love the stitch pattern with the lace and cable but find the lace challenging, as usual, because of the yarn overs. On the plain round I make sure there are six stitches if I do not it looks like a mess.

5/28: 5.5” done including collar count is
sleeve: 46 each
F&B: 72 each
Total Stitches: 236 Stitches “5.5” length
Pattern Total Stitches: Size 34: 230, Size: 38: 262
GO 14 more rounds then check it out. I did 11 rows.

8/31: I added NO extra under arm stitches. My count around was way too high so just joined instead. I tried on and fits great. I need to go 5 more inches to start waiste decreasing. I am long waisted. So 35 more rows of just stockette. Then try on again.

9/5: Start waiste decreasing go only 2 .25”
9/13: Now time to increase for hips need to go 6 more inches. 5” stockette 1” rib stitch. Increase at row 10, 15, at darted areas and sides. After that increase 25 for sides only but adding 4 increase stitches. Row 35, 50, at row 51 do rib.
9/20: 20 more rows to go then I can bind off.
9/24: Completed bottom did rows 50-60 K3, P1
Started sleeve did 3 rows stockinette stitch and 3 rows of K3 P1 Row 7 BO
