I have made one gamp with colors. Now I am using a new color combination that really caught my eye in a book called. “Color and Texture in Weaving” by Margo Selby. Page 10. In this stripe, orangery tones of brown have been used alongside turquoise shades of blue, giving a fresh approach to fall and summery seaside inspired colorways. Each color is 2 inches wide. I like Complementary colors and like how they compliment each other.

I am using Carol Strickler 8 shaft draft book Chapter 8 Twill Gamps pages 84-85.

I chose twills because watching Totally Twill: The Basics Video Download. Twill fabric is known for its lovely drape and endless patterning possibilities and now you can learn how to weave your own beautiful twill with this video workshop from master weaver, Robyn Spady!. Robin mentioned that Twill is great for sewing fabric. I wanted to mix and match twill threading, tie-ups, and treadling to create a profusion of patterns.

12/23/2014: Raddled up all threads on back beam. Now ready to do the heddles with 6 different drafts. This is a first for me. Got to get more heddles on certain shafts. Yck another part I do not like.

BEGAN THE NEW YEAR WITH WEAVING:
I got my quills and loaded them up with all the different colors. I put 6 bags of different cool colors and 6 bags of different warm colors. I numbered them. I also got my tape and for every 2 inches I do a different color.
So it goes WARM, COOL, NATURAL.

It is coming along nicely. There was some tension problems with the warp and thank goodness for S hooks.

1/19/2015: OFF THE LOOM unwashed 4.5 yds X 28”.

1/20/2015: WASHED: 3 YARDS 30 INCHES x 25”

1/21: Started pattern. Could not use the pattern I wanted not enough yardage. I had another jacket pattern and that worked great. I want to pockets and a belt for this jacket. I found some brown fabric to make the binding and so called button band. Thank goodness.

3 Easy Pieces NOT. This was a challenge to sew and I do not know why. Only 3 pieces. Did not have enough fabric and found brown fabric from another project. It made the perfect binding. I decided to add a belt and 2 pockets. I like to walk my dog and the wind will blow and the belt will keep my jacket closed. The hemming as usual is a challenge. I really wish I could take a class on how to sew hand weave garments. This is all self taught. Luckily I have sewing skills and watch a bit of Craftsy.com class to learn more about binding. I used every piece of this fabric. Glad it is done and now can get back to my other projects on the burner.
