Notes

Ysolda, I love you for this great pattern. All cables are so well arranged, the pattern is so clear, that you remark every mistake immediately, because it disturbs the logik and the harmony of this well designed hat.
I live in the area, where the Brothers Grimm collected their fairy tales - “Hänsel und Gretel” too. So, it was a must for me to knit this hat. And the result is really fabulous. I can realy imagine, that Gretel was wearing a hat like this.
I took a yarn which is a mixture of Alpaca and silk and I had sometimes the impression, I’m knitting a cotton candy or hills of marshmallows.
The yarn I used was a wee bit thinner than denotet in the pattern, so the wristband is a bit close. My boyfriend says, that depends not on the yarn, but on my bullhead (pighead?). In German, that sounds a bit more heartly (we say “Dickkopf”).
This is the slouchy version
