Not happy with this.

1. I made a toddler size for an 18-month-old girl. The hat is so stretched at the crown of her head, then the decreases on the top look all goofy because they aren’t stretched the same way. I don’t think it’s gauge. Maybe Nora’s head is just wider than most toddlers? I’ll try again on a grown-up size for me.

2. I’m not happy with the first regular stitches after the decreases. I might have messed up, or it might be a problem with where the ladder between DPNs fell when I made this. On the decrease rounds, I had the knit stitch as second-to-last stitch on each DPN, so that I could use the knit stitch in the “slip two together as if to knit,” then knit that last stitch and slip the two stitches over. Then I’d knit the first stitch from the next needle so it would be in place for the next decrease, and the gap between needles came after that stitch. When I try this again, I’ll put the gap between needles right before the knit stitch. As I come around on the decrease rounds, I can slip the last stitch from one needle onto the next needle, then slip that stitch and the knit stitch together for the decrease. If I do it this way, I think any wonkiness before the knit stitch from the gap between needles will disappear into the “slip 2” part, and everything after the knit stitch will knit normally. I hope.
