Yet again I’m thrilled to be testing for Frank. Veering away from his usual array of blankets, Frank has designed a shawl!
I’m using Patons Sorrento yarn which, in hindsight, probably wasn’t the best choice of yarn as the stitch pattern is kind of lost however, the outcome, I’m hoping, will be worth it. Originally I wanted to use a gradient yarn such as Wolltraum but, as it was a short test deadline, I didn’t have enough time to order some in.
13/9/16: Pattern works up quickly although those starting chains are a bit of a bugger!!! Somehow, I “finished off” row 6 before I realised that I wasn’t supposed to! I started row 7 in the appropriate spot and this hasn’t made a difference to the outcome. I would suggest to those that do this pattern that you do finish off row 6 and reattach the yarn where row 7 states as otherwise, you are slip stitching a long way (and I think it looks untidy like that - but that’s MO!).

I actually continued to “finish off” my rows even though the pattern indicates otherwise. I just didn’t like the bulkiness that those slip stitches created. Looks good and doesn’t make a difference to the outcome!
Bit of a kerfuffle with rows 14-16. Frank had to rewrite row 14 completely, row 15 had missing stitches whilst row 16 had too many!
After frogging back and reworking these rows today, I’m now at the end of row 19.

Row 37 gave me a major headache. When I followed the pattern, it looked bunched up and the cluster groups weren’t consistent in their placement. I reached out to the designer for assistance with placement only to be brushed off with haphazard responses that had nothing to do with my call for help. I had to get cranky with him to get the assistance I needed - which he gave….finally.
I got 37 sorted, only to realise that I’d made a mistake in 36 so I went back to fix it. 37 then worked out like it was supposed to. Smooth sailing until row 39 where I discovered that Frank had put in too many ch1’s in the pattern.
I put up the details of the errors. Long story short, Frank wasn’t happy with “how” I put up the details of the errors in the pattern and was pretty nasty in his response to it. Of course, I gave back a similar response to which Frank decided that “if you are going to give me attitude then you are no longer welcome to test for me” and cut me off any form of contact with him.
So now, unless someone points this out, Frank will never know that I have finished this test pattern.
