I have a ‘new’ spinning wheel! It’s over fifty years old, probably, and the sweetest little wheel ever for fine spinning - quiet, small footprint so it can travel with me and spins with great ease. It’s called “Easycraft” and was made in Christchurch - an upright wheel with scotch tension.
So my first project for this wheel was to spin some fine merino yarn from my own sliver - I had 8 oz roving in ‘Harvest Mist’ done when I was making up some new formulas. Two quite different results, so I’ve split the roving into 6 and drawn lengths of it out into a fine roving before spinning. My spinning is not really great yet with fine spun, but I’m hoping this will help me get back into the groove.
I couldn’t resist starting to knit the yarn before I had finished spinning, so now I’m ‘running to stand still’ - spinning to catch up with the knitting!
Took me a while to spin some more yarn, but I’m there now! Just have to make the stocking cap for Ken this week, then back to Haruni!
Project in hibernation again while I make a warm jacket as winter swiftly approaches…
OMG I had absolutely NO IDEA how long this had been hibernating - anyhow, I have spun a bit more yarn and it’s away again! (November 2013)
Slowly…Jan 2014 :)
Ran out of yarn…again.

Finally got my big girl panties on, spin up the final 25gr of the fibre and knit the last eight rows. Scary stuff. I added in some glass beads to emphasize the leaves. Finally realized that the lace pattern itself wasn’t intimidating, but that I needed to use the written instructions rather than the chart.
