This is a bit long-range - haven’t got the grey yet so will be a few months until I start - aiming to be finished by March 2013 for Brookie’s last year at kindy :)
So…I got some beautiful grey BFL from SheepishCreations on Etsy, and have now spun it into a yarn to match the grist of the rainbow dyed BFL I spin already.
Brooke turns four tomorrow - wait a minute, you say, that’s a tiny dress! Well, yes, Brooke is a tiny girl. If you want, you can read about her on her Facebook page. I want her to be warm and toasty this winter at Kindergarten, so I thought this wee dress would be ideal.
Her proportions are a little different, so I thought this looked like a great pattern to adapt.
Just got one thing to finish before I get started (oh, all right, two or three that I SHOULD finish), then I’ll be racing into this to try to get it done by the end of March.
Ok, so progress (1 March): I have started knitting - all the spinning is done. The BFL is lovely and lustrous. The pattern should knit up really quickly as it’s full of interest with all the little gussets.
27th March - SHOULD knit up quickly, but curiously enough, only if you actually do it ;) Struck down by a cold this week so really motoring into it now - should actually be done by Sunday (my deadline).
I was finished, but had to wait and try it on the lucky recipient (who loved its swing, by the way!). After looking at it on her, I decided to take it home and knit a facing for the neck. As she’s older, I thought it would spend a biut more time swinging than with a youngr child, so would need more support (also the worsted spun handspun is a bit heavier than a commercial yarn would be)
Photos to come.
