I started with 270 chains.

I expected to have a few problems mixing patterns as some use more stitches than others, but if you keep a count of your stitches after you have done a new pattern, remembering to try to keep to what you started with, you can increase or decrease to keep it all even, I usually did this on a straight single crochet stripe, the side edges did finish a bit wavey but after spray blocking and crocheting on a border, it wasnt too bad! My advice would be to crochet the catherine wheel stripe very loosely as this one pulled in quite tightly.

I decided to make mine as colourful as possible, being inspired by the moroccan bazaar colours on a recent holiday.
Its not boring at all as every row is a different pattern and colour way! Its a sort of organised random! I am trying to get a bit of every pattern I know into this blanket and learn a few new ones along the way, its such good practice.
Good old stylecraft again! its just so reasonable and lovely to work with. I used a 3.5 crochet hook, which gives a slightly denser feel, but a no. 4 can be used, as I have used in my other stylecraft crochet blankets.
