Another Westian adventure! As always, this one was great fun, and knitting along with a group of dear friends made it a truly joyous experience.

Like many of Stephen’s patterns, you really should watch the videos that go along with each step. They include details that don’t make it into the written instructions and contribute to a much nicer finish. I generally dislike watching instructional videos, but Stephen’s are a pleasure.

I initially made the full size shawl with the full Section 10, but after blocking it was just too much for me to wear. I am a large woman, but only 5 feet tall, so the “bib” effect was quite pronounced. So I frogged back to the end of the first MC stripe after the AC band, then finished it off with i-cord in the MC applied to the entire bottom of the shawl. I feel like it really unifies the sections. I could not be happier with my FO!

I used two lovely yarns from deep stash. I’ve wanted to find projects for them for years, but never thought to use them together. The accent color is one of my all-time favorite Wollmeise colors that I use again and again. This project was an extremely happy color experience! (But honestly, I could have stuck with my original color choice--the orange/cream/acid green combo--and had a completely lovely FO. Maybe I’ll use them for Hiberknits.)

Slipstravaganza still stands as my favorite Westknits MKAL FO, but I think this one has taken second place.
