Notes

Modifying for DK & worsted weight, using size 6 needles for ribbing, 8 for colorwork, and 7 for single color stockinette.

Casting on 108 stitches to account for my smaller gauge needles, and I will be adding more pattern repeats too. I am not cropping, and will need to add a lot of length to the body and arms because my husfriend is 6’5”

Starting yarn weights:
Loop Yin Yang: 605.5
Roarange: 66.4g
Bluest Druzy: 141.8g
Fawn: 67g
Blue Nile: 47.4g

06-24-2019

took me about an hour to knit the first 4-color row sweat Of course, my DK version has a lot more stitches than the pattern originally has, so it’s both lengthy AND difficult!

07-04-2019

After getting up to 300 st, I disregarded the last 2 increases in the colorwork chart, and instead knitted a few more inches in the round.

Put 54 st per sleeve on hold + cast on 12 stitches in each underarm.

10-24-2019

Brian (my partner / husfriend / the recipient) wanted a tapered sleeve, but after a few knitted versions, he seemed to prefer a tapered upper arm and then a very slow taper on the forearm. The 3-color part near the wrist got particularly tight when knitted as written (but with my smaller circumference for DK weight), so I decreased down to 50 st and then modified the sleeve chart to fit entirely into a 10 st repeat. Therefore no decreases were made during the wrist during the charted section.

I then decreased 2 final stitches for an even 48 stitches to continue the 2x2 ribbing I did elsewhere in the pattern. I knitted a loooong cuff, and added in a thumbhole as follows:

Move BOR marker to a spot that lines up with the side of the wrist where a thumb is.
Knit in the round for 2” in 2x2 rib.
Knit flat for 3” in 2x2 rib, turning work where the BOR marker is.
Knit 2” in the round in 2x2 rib.
Bind off all stitches using the double chain bind-off.

Ending yarn weights:
Loop Yin Yang: 0g!
Roarange: 2.5g
Bluest Druzy: 15.2g
Fawn: 3g
Blue Nile: 0.7g

Total yarns used:
Loop Yin Yang: 605.5g
Roarange: 63.9g
Bluest Druzy: 126.6g
Fawn: 64g
Blue Nile: 46.7g
