Up to Row 32. I did the first 4 rows in stockinette - hopefully with the cotton content, it’ll block out. Not too worried about curling at the top edge.
I’ve started thinking about making the feathers longer as per barroch & AmyA’s projects - as it is, I think I’m going to do the center bind off first and then the sides, to maintain the gradient to the end of the project.I don’t know how much I’ll be able to extend the feathers - I will be placing lifelines in as much as I can when I get into the long feather section, probably around the Row 46 mark.
The yarn calls for a US3, and I’m using a US7 - there was no needle or gauge given for the pattern.

Got all the way to row 70 and decided I had enough yarn to make the long feathers bigger, so ripped back to end of first extension rows - second lifeline. Now back up to 66. I’m not quite to the halfway point of the 2 camel/2 black strands, so there should be enough left to finish the feathers, since I’m already closing the ‘spines’.
I did not add the I63/64 rows like AmyA did. Only the extensions at 47/48 (x10), 53/54 (x7) and 59/60 (x4).

Up to the sectioning!! Made a mistake on the bind-off and had to tink back to where it started. MARK WHERE YOU ARE. I know it’s harder w/o charts but it’ll save you headaches.
I’ll be doing the center section first, so the feather tips color gradient matches. I’ve already added some notes as to how much I increased - it looks like I’ll be using every bit of this yarn. Already planning the next one!!

Completed. I didn’t managed to get to the 4-strand black, so all the tips end with three strands of black and one of the dark tan. I had enough to maybe knit another half inch, however! The extra yarn was about the size of a ping-pong ball.
On to blocking!
