Notes

My first project with Stonewashed.

Working as a side project while teaching a class on crochet and doing a cozy stripe blanket.

Detailed Notes:
Starting with the cream hexagons to check for gauge without color changes. Single crocheted around, matching row count on sides and stitch count on top and bottom, joining with a slip stitch on right side top left corner.

(Also realizing I was off on amounts needed for the cream and honeycomb color and have ordered more)

06/06/20 - ordered 10 more moonstone and 5 more yellow jasper from Lovecrafts and Deramores. 18 hexagons completed, choosing to carry yarn when it makes sense, and intarsia when it doesn’t, keeping all tails towards the wrong side (of course). Border done to match colors used on each hexagon.

6/20/20 - yet to do…15 white hexagons, 3 hexagons with the bees, and the 20 edge pieces. Additional yellow jasper came from deramores. They have a different Dye lot number, but do seeM close. I’ll mix them in so it shouldn’t be noticeable. Also, i believe i will only be using ONE skein of each of the other colors. I bought three of each based on the pattern suggested yarn skein amount. I have updated Canada Jade and Obsidian, since I have finished the tree hexagons.

6/24/20 - all 20 edge pieces done. Hoping 2-1/3 skeins of the gold (and leftovers) are what i need for the connecting of the hexagons! Now on to finishing the white and the bee hexes.

6/26/20 - still have 2 bees and 10 white hexagons to do, but laid out all of the pieces on the floor to just SEE it. And I’m actually thinking I may just do 3 more white and the 2 bees and stitch together. It’s roughly 48x60 inches already.

6/30/20 - began process of joining. Watched video linked in the pattern pdf, and noticed it mentions slip stitch around for border. Written patter says SC…so this could be one reason I needed additional yarn. No big deal! Also asked question of designer in her Facebook group, and she was quick to answer. She referenced a border around the blanket after joining. I had been thinking about adding one, and had not seen it mentioned in the written pattern. Hoping I have enough in my Yellow Jasper. (If not I may see how obsidian looks as a contrast.)

7/7/20 - getting there! Just three more columns to join and a border around the entire thing. It is HEAVY, but looking great. I AM looking forward to being done, and maybe not doing single crochets for awhile. (Lol)

7/12/20 - holy cow. The ends. Choosing to do surface crochet for the bee tracks. THe lines are thicker, but I think it’s cute and will hold up well.
