I wanted to make my 3 year old a Strawberry Shortcake inspired hat for Christmas. This pattern is very easy to follow and super quick to make!
12/07/2011 - Hat is finished, just have to finish crocheting the seeds and sewing them on. :D
12/21/2011 - So this hat is finished and would have been finished sooner except that I got the great idea to crochet each seed and individually sew them on the hat. lol But I’m glad I did, it turned out really cute and Toot loves it!
Update: I’ve been asked a few times about the pattern for this hat. The pattern for the hat itself is only available through Crochet! magazine, which is listed above.
The leaves and seeds were something I just played around with till I found a shape I liked, here are the patterns for those. Feel free to message me if something doesn’t make sense. :) Hope this helps!
Seeds (Make as many as you want) -I believe I used an H hook but use whatever size you like to get the right seed size:
Ch 4
1 sc in second chain from hook
1 hdc in next chain
1 sc in next chain then sl st in same chain
Fasten off, leaving tail to sew seed on to hat, weave in other tail
Leaf (make two) - I’m thinking I may have used an I or a J hook for these? They came out pretty big, I would probably make them smaller next time. :D
Ch 12 (leave a long tail on this end to sew the leaf on to the hat)
Sl st in second chain from hook
1 sc in next 2 chains
1 hdc in next 2 chains
1 dc in next 2 chains
1 hdc in next 2 chains
1 sc in last 2 chain, sl st in same chain
Working on other side of chain, repeat pattern:
1 sl st in first chain
1 sc in next 2 chains
1 hdc in next 2 chains
1 dc in next 2 chains
1 hdc in next 2 chains
1 sc in next 2 chains, sl st in the first sc of previous row.
Fasten off, weave in end, sew leaves to hat
