Notes

My other finished blanket.

Pay for pattern, stolen from the book?

1993 pattern. Repeat is a multiple of 12 + 2. Pattern is 46” x 60” (16 peaks 16 x 12 = 192 + 2 = 194 ch’s) bigger than I want to make for a kid size charity donation or gift. I’m doing 12 peaks & it’s wider than I expected even though I thought the chain length looked the width I wanted, a nice kid size. Didn’t pay attention to gauge, this is a blanket afterall. Apparently I’m a loose crocheter. 10 peaks should be a good size for a baby blanket for a loose crocheter.

I really, really love this pattern, the look and the feel. I did find it challenging to follow & memorize. I tried it awhile ago & gave up. Trying it again with determination & success this time. It’s not a hard pattern, it’s just difficult to put into pattern words. It’s the ch1s that are confusing, for example dc, ch1, skip next ch1 space, sc in next ch1 space. So many ch1 references gets confusing. Now that I have it memorized it’s working up super fast.

Have decided to use three shades of pink (red on the color wheel) instead of white & pink. This is monochromatic which I’m liking, but I bet more colors will look good too.

EDGING:
This is a very interesting edging pattern, I’ve never seen before, very similar to crab stitch (reverse sc) but easier & not quite as firm which I prefer for a blanket. I have never liked crocheting down the sides of crochet rows, it’s messy. I gave up following the pattern regarding what rows to sc into. From the pictures I figured out the sc, ch1, twice is into the ends of R4, obviously because of the dtr end stitches. Then sc, ch1 before & after ends of R5.

The interesting part is R2 of the edging. You slip stitch into the ch1 spaces & ch1 over the R1 sc’s. That gives an interesting slightly bumpy & somewhat firm edging.
